EDUC 3113 Students with Exceptionalities
This class surveys the characteristics of gifted students and the categories of disabilities covered by the Individuals with Disabilities Act and other legislation related to special education. There will be an emphasis on educational and legal implications, parent’s rights, and the assessment and identification of individuals with disabilities. Discusses instruction to create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, positive social interactions, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. Individualized curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of all students in the classroom regardless of exceptionality will be addressed.
This course is a prerequisite for all other special education courses.
